A gas cylinder explosion at No. 12 Amusu Street, Ijora Badia, within the Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area, Lagos State prompted a swift response from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Lagos Operations Office.
The incident involved a leaking 25-kilogram gas cylinder in a shop with five similar cylinders, leading to a powerful explosion and fire.
NEMA in a statement on Tuesday said, “We quickly assessed the situation and ensured that all victims received immediate medical attention.
“Our collaboration with local authorities was crucial in securing the area and providing support to those affected.”
However, NEMA confirmed that the explosion injured 20 individuals, with 14 suffering severe burns and six experiencing minor burns.
