Music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, marked a milestone in his career with an emotional open letter celebrating 25 years in the entertainment industry.
The award-winning artist shared the message on his Instagram, reflecting on his journey, lessons, and those who helped shape his success.
Titled “Open Letter of Gratitude, 2Baba #25 Years in the Industry,” the message recalls the struggles and pivotal moments from his early days with Plantashun Boiz to becoming Africa’s music legend.
In his tribute, 2Baba expressed deep appreciation for key figures in his career, stating, “You were the first to see light in the dream of three young men when no one else believed.”
He highlighted contributions from Nelson Brown, Baba Keke, D1, Eddie Lawani, and DJ Jimmy Jatt, crediting them for their unwavering support and belief in his talent.
He noted Nelson Brown’s role in launching the group, saying, “You believed in Plantashun Boiz, not just as an idea, but as a vision that could redefine Nigerian music.”
He also praised Baba Keke and D1 for their part in securing his first professional record deal, which “changed not only my life but also the Nigerian entertainment landscape.”
Eddie Lawani was described as “more than a mentor; family,” and DJ Jimmy Jatt received acknowledgment for his steadfast encouragement during challenging times.
The tribute comes ahead of his “Experience 25” concert scheduled for November 14 at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
However, fans have expressed admiration for 2Baba’s humility and longevity, celebrating him as a true icon in Nigerian music.
