$3bn Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline nears full commissioning — Presidency

The $3 billion Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline is advancing steadily toward full commissioning, signaling a major boost for Nigeria’s gas infrastructure, Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media confirmed on Sunday.

The Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) gas pipeline, stretching approximately 130 kilometers with a 48-inch diameter and designed to transport 2.2 billion standard cubic feet of gas daily, is 96% complete.

Olusegun highlighted the project’s importance on X, stating, “The long-awaited megaproject would boost access to gas in northern Nigeria, thereby unlocking Nigeria’s huge economic benefits arising from its natural gas endowment.”

This development promises to expand gas availability, fueling industrial growth and energy security across the northern region of Nigeria.
