Video: Man climbs billboard, threatens suicide over TikTok star’s request

A young man climbed a tall billboard near Gadar Lado along Zaria Road in Kano on Monday, causing widespread panic when he threatened to commit suicide if certain TikTok celebrities he follows did not come to the location.

SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, confirmed the situation, stating that the individual refused to descend and demanded to meet the social media figures in person.

“Right now the security forces are trying to rescue him. He said if celebrities who follow on Tiktok don’t go there, he will fall. May God protect us,” Kiyawa wrote in a Facebook post, adding that security operatives were making every effort to rescue him safely.

In a follow up post, Kiyawa wrote “At last the young man was rescued and taken to police hospital in Bompai.”
