Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the United States, and specifically President Donald Trump, to increase pressure on Russia to force negotiations, saying European efforts alone are not enough.

Speaking with journalists on Thursday, Zelensky stated, “Europeans can help us, which will push Putin toward negotiations, but Americans can do more. I think Trump can do more, and he has to do more because there are so many losses.”
The comments come as Ukraine continues to face intense fighting in its war with Russia, now in its fifth year, with both sides reporting significant casualties.
Zelensky has repeatedly sought stronger U.S. involvement to leverage negotiations, even as the Trump administration has pursued its own peace proposals that include calls for territorial and other concessions from Kyiv.
