The Convener, Carleton University Canada Queen Elizabeth Scholar Community engagement program, Dr. Sophia Abiri – Franklin, has expressed her commitment to knowledge mobilization and community development.

Abiri – Franklin, who is a Senior Partner, George Town Solicitors, and also a Fellow,  Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), spoke at the Carleton University Canada Queen Elizabeth Scholar Community Engagement Programme, organized in collaboration with Georgetown Solicitors.

She said, “As I mark the one-year anniversary of my return from Carleton University Canada, where I was honoured with the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship award, I am reminded of my commitment to give back to my community and country.

“This programme is a testament to that pledge, and I am thrilled to share it with you as part of my community engagement initiative.

“This programme marks the 14th event in my community engagement initiative since my return, demonstrating my commitment to knowledge mobilization and community development.”

She noted that highlights of her previous programmes include, “Webinar: Sharing my QES application experience; Workshop presentation at Babcock University: Research Collaborations, Fellowships, and Related Opportunities; Keynote speech at APBN Lagos Chapter’s Lagos Professional Week Seminar: Business Sustainability in Nigeria; Seminars at Babcock University: Preparing for Global Opportunities and Fostering Mentorship; Empowering secondary school students: Raising Future Leaders (Murtala Mohammed Airport Schools and Unique Height Junior and Secondary Schools) Lagos; “Corporate engagements: Business Sustainability, Mentorship, and Succession Planning (May and Baker Nigeria Plc and Master Energy Group).”

During these programmes, she said, she distributed QES-branded bookmarks and pens to inspire community members to chase their dreams.

“These initiatives aimed to engage, inspire, and propagate ideals through knowledge mobilization workshops and activities,” she said.
