Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has filed a petition with the Department of State Services (DSS) accusing Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, of demanding N150 million in exchange for “spiritual support” toward his 2027 Oyo State governorship bid.

The petition, dated October 13, 2025, and signed by Adelabu’s Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Bolaji Tunji, details the cleric’s alleged request for cash and “expensive spiritual items” shortly after the minister publicly declared his political ambition.

Adelabu claims his refusal triggered a barrage of “false prophecies” designed to tarnish his image.

“He requested money and expensive spiritual items,” the petition states, labeling the demands as “attempts to extort N150 million from him in exchange for ‘spiritual support’.”

Adelabu further describes the fallout as “false prophecies aimed at damaging his reputation,” insisting the actions constitute “blackmail masked as divine revelation.”

The document urges the DSS to probe the matter urgently, framing it as an effort to “influence political processes through coercive spiritual demands.”

Neither the DSS nor Primate Ayodele’s church has responded to requests for comment as of Friday evening.

Adelabu, a prominent APC figure and former Oyo governorship aspirant, has positioned himself as a frontrunner for the 2027 race amid Nigeria’s ongoing power sector challenges.
