Adesanya opens up on 10-year abusive relationship

Actress Ayo Adesanya has opened up on being in an abusive relationship for almost 10 years.

According to Adesanyo, the physical and emotional abuse in her former relationship made her become an addict of alcohol.

She spoke in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, where she stated that she had always kept her former relationship experience private.

She said, “I became an alcoholic. But I couldn’t leave because of the shame that people would say I couldn’t keep a man.

“The guy beats you right now and the next minute he’s begging you. So it was something I was involved in for 10 good years.

“Thank God there was no blogger then. It was so bad. The man would always tell those who called me for jobs that I wasn’t available.

“The night I was going to leave, it was like magic. It was like 12am in the middle of the night. This is the first time I’ll be talking about it . But I have to talk about it.

“I met somebody and I’ll say I was naive. All the ‘I love you’ thing, going into a relationship and putting your all into it.

“Being an actor, I was out there, and I actually stayed in the relationship because I didn’t want peoplt to blame me for not being able to keep a man. So I stayed in the relationship for almost 10 years. although we were not married. There was physical violence, there was a lot of nagging which is emotional, there was a lot.”
