The Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), Alhaji (Dr) Umaru Kwairanga, has commended China’s strategic leadership and global economic positioning, while emphasizing the vital role of Africa in fostering sustainable global growth.
Speaking at the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo 2025, held at the Changsha International Conference Centre from June 11–14, Dr. Kwairanga underscored the importance of deeper economic collaboration between China and Africa.
“It is an honour and a privilege to be here for the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo 2025,” Dr. Kwairanga began in his keynote remarks. “What I have seen in the few days that we have been in your lovely country has reinforced my belief that China has realised its potential and now leads the world.”
Recognising China’s robust development trajectory, he noted the country’s unmatched strength in human capital, financial capability, infrastructure, and strategic foresight. “However,” he added, “to sustain that position, you need Africa—which has the human and natural resources that position it as another potential future power.”
Dr. Kwairanga highlighted the expo as an essential platform for mutual learning, cooperation, and actionable dialogue that will catalyze Africa’s development while reinforcing China’s leadership on the world stage.
“I am very impressed by the calibre of participants at this expo,” he said, expressing confidence that the high-level engagements will translate into “tangible agreements and actionable decisions” that will impact businesses, communities, and countries meaningfully and swiftly.
He concluded by thanking the organisers for their warm hospitality and professionalism, while wishing all participants a successful and productive week.
