Key stakeholders in the fight against malaria have converged in Abuja for a two-day high-level meeting themed “Harnessing Africa’s Central Role for the Big Push Against Malaria.”

Despite notable progress in recent years, sub-Saharan Africa continues to bear the highest malaria burden, with Nigeria ranking among the most affected countries.

The meeting aims to exchange ideas, mobilise political will, and secure commitments from attending ministers and parliamentarians.

Organisers expect the outcome to include a revitalized Africa-centred strategy and a clear financing roadmap for malaria elimination.

“The Big Push” against malaria is an initiative launched by ten African health ministers, focused on driving progress through six priority actions to accelerate the eradication of the disease across the continent.
