The governor warned that any commissioner or special adviser who exhibits such insubordination and indolence will be immediately dismissed, regardless of their gender.
Speaking publicly, Governor Eno stressed that his cabinet members are his “first eleven” and must accompany him to all official functions and ensure his safe return.
He stated, “Starting from now, henceforth, I like everyone to hear, when you hear that I have fired a commissioner from your local government, it’s insubordination.”
He added, “The job for which you offered to do under oath is a full-time job, which you must do 24/7.”
The governor recalled his own experience as a commissioner, saying, “I can’t remember any day I left my Governor behind,” and warned that any commissioner neglecting official duties for personal matters should be ready to face consequences.
He further stressed the importance of commitment to the ARISE Agenda blueprint for effective governance and delivery of democracy’s dividends to the people.
This stern warning follows reports that some cabinet members have been disengaged, citing inadequate funding and adopting a local slogan meaning “there’s nothing in government.”
Eno has made it clear that dissatisfaction is no excuse for neglecting responsibilities and that such behaviour will no longer be tolerated.
The Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, conveyed the governor’s displeasure, describing the abandonment of the governor at events as a breach of protocol and issuing a final warning to cabinet members.
