Akwa Ibom PDP announces suspension of campaign due to First Lady’s death

The Akwa Ibom State Peoples Democratic Party has suspended its campaign for the forthcoming Local Government election in the state following the death of the State First Lady, Patience Umo Eno.
The Akwa Ibom PDP spokesperson, Edwin Ebiese on Friday said in a statement that campaign activities have been suspended due to the unfortunate incident.
He said, “This devastating news has left our party, and indeed the entire state, in mourning.
“As we struggle to come to terms with this immense loss, we are compelled to pause our campaign activities as a mark of respect for the departed First Lady.”
The State Local Government election is anticipated to be held in the 31 LGAs of the state on October 5, 2024.
Dailyeconomy had earlier reported that First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Patience Umo Eno has been confirmed dead by the State Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong.
