Alaafin of Oyo hails Makinde as visionary leader of ‘rare blend’ competence

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has lavished praise on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, describing him as a leader who embodies “the rare blend of sound thinking and decisive action.”
In a congratulatory birthday message delivered through his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the monarch highlighted Makinde’s bold leadership style.
He noted that the governor “has consistently demonstrated the qualities of a good leader, particularly the courage to take bold decisions and the readiness to bear the consequences of such actions.”
Oba Owoade commended Makinde’s clear vision since taking office, stating, “Governor Makinde is more interested in people who can sustain his institutional reforms and other legacies than in personal preferences.”
He emphasised the governor’s values, adding that Makinde prioritizes “brilliance, truthfulness and hard work,” and runs “an inclusive government, but you can only benefit if you key into his vision of RTR—reformation, transformation and repositioning.”
The Alaafin portrayed Makinde as a principled figure, “Governor Makinde is a true believer who fears God and is in tune with the spirit of the word of God.
He is neither arrogant nor uncouth nor incoherent.”
He credited the governor with “unprecedented achievements with far-reaching impact on the lives of residents” and prayed for his long life, good health, and divine guidance.
