In the early hours of Tuesday, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) enforcement team arrested nine suspected miscreants under the Ozumba Mbadiwe bridge.
The arrested individuals according to the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, include: Tunde Onakoya, 36 years old; Collins Ararume, 36 years old; Musiliu Fatokun, 27 years old; Usman Umar, 22 years old; Michael Oladotun, 18 years old; Michael Oluwakayode, 22 years old; Yusuf Azika, 26 years old; Bankole Akinola, 19 years old; and Abdullahi Olatunji, 19 years old
However, the announcement sparked a humorous reaction from the renowned Chess Master, Tunde Onakoya, who shares the same name as one of the detainees.
Onakoya tweeted in disbelief, “No way… Was he teaching chess when this happened? Am I tweeting from detention?”
The Commissioner playfully responded to the chess master’s tweet, saying, “I was wondering how every ‘Tunde Onakoya’ have to be @Tunde_OD (the chess master). Funny! By the way, thank you for all you do. God bless you! TW”
This lighthearted exchange brought some levity to the situation, clarifying that the chess master was not involved in the arrest and remains active on social media.
The LAWMA enforcement continues its efforts to maintain order and cleanliness in the city by apprehending individuals involved in unlawful activities.
