Manchester United coach Rúben Amorim has addressed the difficult night for young defender Leny Yoro following an on-field error during their match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The 19-year-old’s challenge conceded a penalty, and he was visibly distraught, later substituted as Manchester United secured a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount.
Amorim spoke candidly about Yoro’s mindset and development process noting “I spoke with him because he makes a mistake and struggles. He wants to do everything so well.”
The coach emphasised the learning curve young players face at the top level, “He’s growing with games and setbacks, it’s not easy for a young guy. He knows it wasn’t his best game.”
The penalty incident underlined the pressure on emerging talents, but Amorim remains supportive, highlighting Yoro’s resilience and ambition.
The defender’s emotional reaction after the incident was clear as he left the pitch, showing the weight he places on his performances.
Despite the result, the United manager expressed confidence in the young star’s future, noting that growth often comes hand-in-hand with moments like these.
