The driver implicated in the fatal car crash involving boxing legend Anthony Joshua has been charged to court, Ogun State Police announced on Friday.
DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Command, issued a statement on Friday confirming the development.
“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026 and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026,” Babaseyi stated.
The tragic incident unfolded on Monday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where the Lexus SUV carrying Joshua and his team rammed into a stationary truck, Dailyeconomy had earlier reported.
Two of Joshua’s key associates lost their lives: his personal trainer, Kevin Latif Ayodele, and strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami.
Joshua himself survived the crash and was discharged late Wednesday night from Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, after doctors deemed him clinically fit to recover at home.
