Nigerian Army has clarified the death of soldiers reportedly died in Boko Haram IED blast in Borno.
A report circulated on Wednesday that 26 Nigerian soldiers died in Boko Haram IED blast in Borno, 20 others wounded.
Reacting to what is described to be “misinformation” the Nigerian Army in statement on Wednesday claimed that troops of the 25 Brigade Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team encountered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Tuesday, April 29, around 4:30 pm while escorting civilians from Damboa to Komala exchange point along the Maiduguri-Damboa Road in Borno State.
Army clarified that the attack resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and injuries to one other.
The statement reads, “Troops of 25 Brigade Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team, while on road dominance patrol and escort duty for civilians moving from Damboa to the Komala exchange point, encountered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along the Maiduguri-Damboa Road on 29th April 2025, at approximately 4:30pm. Tragically, two courageous soldiers paid the supreme price in the line of duty, and one other sustained injuries. Detailed report will be made in press release later.”
