The 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has firmly refuted false social media posts alleging that images released from their recent successful rescue mission were outdated.

In a statement on Tuesday by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations for 12 Brigade, the Brigade stressed that the photographs are “authentic and were captured during the said operation conducted on 2 November 2025 at Forward Operating Base Oguma.”

Addressing the misinformation, the statement declared, “The claim is entirely false and misleading,” adding that the photos include “verifiable geolocation data confirming that they were taken at the precise coordinates of the forest area where the operation took place.”

The Nigerian Army emphasised its commitment to professionalism and accountability, noting that “every photograph or footage released is thoroughly vetted and approved through established operational public relations procedures before dissemination.”

The Brigade warned that “the false narrative being circulated is a deliberate attempt by mischief makers to discredit the credible efforts and successes of our gallant troops,” urging the public to “disregard this baseless claim and continue to support the Nigerian Army.”

This clarification follows the recent operation in Achigili Forest, Kogi State, where troops successfully rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered ransom money.

The Brigade thereby reaffirmed the Army’s dedication to maintaining peace and security in the region.
