The Nigerian Army’s 6 Division Headquarters has firmly rejected recent social media allegations claiming internal power struggles, welfare neglect, and financial exploitation at 90 Battalion, Koko.

The Army in a statement on Wednesday described the accusations as “unsubstantiated and malicious falsehood,” the Division warned against attempts to blackmail the command structure.

In the statement, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations, emphasised that “postings and deployments in the Nigerian Army are routine exercises, essentially carried out without recourse to any primordial considerations, including religion and loyalty, as alleged.”

He called the notion of biased postings “not only unfounded but malicious.”

The Division further asserted that the Nigerian Army operates as “a professional force with zero tolerance for corruption, welfare abuse, religious-based postings and any form of malfeasance within its ranks.”

Regarding leadership, the statement highlighted that “the Commanding Officer of the Battalion has been discharging his command responsibilities in the most professional manner within the available resources.”

Addressing the complaints, the statement noted existence of “established procedures for handling administrative complaints in the Nigerian Army,” cautioning that “erring personnel resorting to any other means could be deemed as engaging in a desperate attempt at institutional blackmail.”

The public was urged to “disregard these unsubstantiated allegations” and assured that “any reported malfeasance will be properly investigated, particularly the one that borders on extortion.”

The statement concluded with reassurance to the Niger Delta community that “the Division will continue to prioritise security and safety at all times.”
