Troops of Headquarters 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have escalated their operations across Taraba State, securing notable successes.

According to a statement signed on Thursday by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 6 Brigade, the ongoing offensive has led to the destruction of bandits’ camps, neutralisation of armed elements, recovery of weapons, and the arrest of a key suspect.

The statement revealed a deliberate clearance operation on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 under Operation Zafin Wuta targeting Shiid, Agia, and Tyozua villages in Takum LGA.

“As the soldiers advanced towards the mountainous hideouts, the bandits fled deeper into the rugged terrain, abandoning their camps,” it read partly.

Soldiers destroyed camps previously thought inaccessible to security forces, despite attempts by bandits to obstruct movement, including the burning of a wooden bridge in Tyozua.

During the operation, a suspect named Dahiru Maigari was arrested and is under investigation.

On Thursday December 4, 2025, troops conducted a fighting patrol near Karim Lamido to limit bandit movement.

When ambushed near Wudompi Community, the soldiers quickly repelled the attack, neutralising two armed men and recovering an AK-47 rifle along with 21 rounds of ammunition.

The attackers are believed to be part of the Karimjo faction attempting to regroup.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, praised the troops’ professionalism and bravery stating, “No terrain is inaccessible to the Nigerian Army and no criminal enclave is beyond reach.”

He assured Taraba residents the Brigade remains resolute in pursuing criminals relentlessly until peace is restored.
