Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully rescued two kidnapped victims from Efagi village, Lafiagi, Edu LGA, Kwara State, following a violent encounter with kidnappers on the early hours of October 10, 2025.

The soldiers, deployed at the Patrol Base in Lafiagi, quickly responded to the incident after receiving information and, in collaboration with local vigilantes, pursued the criminals. A firefight ensued, forcing the bandits to flee and abandon their victims.

In a statement shared on Saturday by the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, praised the troops for their “gallantry and professionalism,” emphasising the Brigade’s determination to sustain operations against criminal elements. He also urged residents to provide “timely, actionable intelligence” to aid ongoing security efforts.

Although one soldier and a vigilante member sustained gunshot wounds and were evacuated for treatment, the rescued victims were safely reunited with their families.

The troops continue to carry out further security operations in the area to ensure the safety of the community.
