Muhammed Babangida, the son of former military President Ibrahim Babangida, has officially accepted his appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), expressing sincere gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the trust placed in him.
In a press statement issued on Monday, Babangida dismissed widespread online reports claiming he had rejected the appointment, tagging them “false and malicious” and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and damage the reputation of the Tinubu administration.
“We wish to clarify that Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government, and extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him,” the statement reads partly.
The statement also assured the public that those responsible for spreading the falsehoods would be identified and held accountable.
“We also want to assure the public that those spreading these falsehoods will be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and fostering unity within our nation,” it added.
The statement concluded with a call for Nigerians to remain discerning and to verify information from credible sources amid the flood of misinformation.
Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, as the chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, Dailyeconomy reports.
The announcement was made on Friday, July 18, as part of a major shakeup of federal agencies, with seven other notable appointments ratified by the president.
