Babcock University has issued a stern warning to students and parents about a fake notice circulating, which falsely demands payment of N250,000 as a SIWES Programme Support Fee between October 5 and 19, 2025.
In an official statement, Joshua Suleiman, Director of Marketing & Communication of the varsity, emphasised, “The said notice is FAKE, FRAUDULENT, and ILL-MOTIVATED. The document does not bear my signature, which immediately calls its authenticity and credibility into question.”
He further clarified, “It did not originate from me nor from the Department of Marketing & Communications, and therefore, should be completely disregarded.”
Suleiman condemned the perpetrators, describing them as carrying out a “criminal attempt to exploit the good name of Babcock University and defraud its students.”
The University urged caution, advising students, parents, and guardians not to “fall prey to such deceptive messages or make any payments into unauthorised accounts.”
He noted that official communications and fees are to be confirmed only through Babcock University’s authorised channels, including their official website and the Registrar’s Office.
The University is already taking steps to identify and prosecute those responsible for the scam, warning that these actions are “morally reprehensible, and contrary to the values of honesty, integrity, and accountability that Babcock University upholds.”
