Super Eagles and Atlanta winger, Ademola Lookman has stated that his nomination for the 2024 Ballon d’Or will not distract him from his scoring.
He emphasised his commitment to self-improvement, saying, “I don’t know if people’s perception of me has changed. I just try to improve and become stronger every day.
“This is the most important thing for me. And as for hard work on a daily basis, my character and goals, I’ve remained the same person as before.”
While speaking on his opinion on Atalanta’s strong attacking lineup, which includes new signings like Zaniolo, Samardzic, and Retegui, Lookman said, “We have a very strong group of attackers, great players with different characteristics. Each one wants to play to show their qualities. Being able to take the field with players like this is wonderful for me: they help me become a better player.”
Lookman, the only African on the shortlist, had a standout season with Atalanta, scoring a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final.
Despite interest from PSG, he remains focused on contributing to his team’s success and developing alongside new attacking talents at Atalanta.
The awards ceremony is set for October 28in Paris.
