Bandits have again struck the Isapa community in Kwara State, abducting 11 residents in a violent raid.
Over 20 gunmen reportedly stormed the community on Monday, herding cattle and firing indiscriminately, leaving an elderly woman wounded by a stray bullet.
Seven of the kidnapped victims belong to the same family and include a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several young children.
Some identified abductees are Talatu Kabiru (20), Magaji (6), Hadiza (10), pregnant Sarah Sunday (22), and nursing mother Lami Fidelis (23).
A community leader confirmed the grim reality: “Eleven people were abducted, with seven from the same family”.
In a related incident in Kano State, bandits raided the villages of Sundu and Biresawa along the Katsina–Kano border late Monday night.
Several women and girls were abducted, with reports indicating two males and six females taken away.
A local resident noted, “They came as usual. Up till now, there is no news on their whereabouts,” highlighting growing fears among border communities despite a recent peace pact in the region.
Security analyst Bakatsine warned on social media that violent raids by armed bandits are shifting toward these border areas.
The latest spate of kidnappings occurs shortly after a brutal assault on the Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara where 38 members were abducted and some reportedly killed.
The attacks have incited panic and insecurity among communities in both states, with residents recounting harrowing experiences of gunfire and forced displacement.
