Bilateral ties: Nigeria, China discuss economic cooperation

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun and senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, on Saturday, hosted a dinner for the new Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai.

The discussions centered on enhancing trade and investment between Nigeria and China, marking a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations in 2025 and beyond.

This was made known in a terse statement shared by the Ministry of Finance via it X (formally Twitter) handle on Sunday.

This collaboration aims to foster economic growth and stability, reflecting both nations’ commitment to deepening their strategic partnership.

The statement reads, “On Saturday evening, the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, joined Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for a dinner in honour of H.E. Yu Dunhai, the new Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, and his delegation. Discussions focused on enhancing trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Nigeria and China.

“This collaboration reflects a positive step towards fostering stronger bilateral ties in 2025 and beyond.”
