Brazilian President welcomes Tinubu, wife to 2024 G20 summit

President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu arrived at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Monday, for the 19th Heads of State and Government Summit of the Group of 20.
In a video on Monday shared by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Ononuga, the duo were seen being welcomed by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Rio de Janeiro alongside other country leaders.
Lula da Silva is hosting the 2024 G20 summit, having assumed the group’s rotating presidency on December 21, 2023.
His term will conclude on November 30.
Onanuga disclosed that Tinubu had arrived in Brazil on Sunday, November 17, at about 11.03 p.m. local time, (Monday 3:03 a.m. Nigerian time), and was received by Amb. Breno Costa in the Ministry of External Relations of Brazil.
He was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Art, Tourism, Culture and Creativity, Hannatu Musawa, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Mohammed Mohammed.
The summit for this year has the theme: “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.”
