Manchester United star and capatain, Bruno Fernandes has officially confirmed reports that he rejected a high-profile offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal.

Speaking exclusively, Fernandes revealed, “The president called me, I’ve rejected.”

He further explained the discussions behind his decision, saying, “I spoke to Amorim. He asked me not to go. Manchester United didn’t want to sell me. And they don’t need the money. But if I had wanted to leave, they would have made it happen.”

The midfielder’s statement puts to rest speculation about a potential move to the Saudi Pro League, highlighting his commitment to Manchester United despite lucrative offers.

“It would have been easy to move there (Al Hilal). I know the Portuguese players there very well. But I want to play at the highest level and compete for major titles. I can do that, and I still want to,” Fernandes added.

Al-Hilal are reportedly willing to offer Manchester United as much as £100 million ($135m) for Fernandes, but want a decision from the player quickly.

Fernandes could pocket approximately £200m ($269m) in Saudi Arabia over the course of a three-year contract, levels above even the very good money by Premier League standards that he earns now, which would comfortably secure his family’s wealth for generations to come.
