The men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested two brothers, John Abugu, 43 and Kenneth Abugu, 31, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, for attempting to smuggle five kilograms of cocaine concealed within the walls of their suitcases.
A statement on Sunday by the NDLEA’s Spokesman, Femi Babafemi noted that the duo, who claimed they were traveling to India for medical treatment, were caught after NDLEA officers conducted a detailed search of their luggage and uncovered the hidden narcotics.
In a separate operation on the same day, Babafemi disclosed that the MMIA Strategic Command intercepted a 20-year-old Ghanaian-British national, Parker Darren Hazekia Osei, with 36 parcels of Loud—a potent cannabis strain—weighing 19.40 kilograms.
Osei, who said he is a Computer Science student at East London University, was apprehended during inward passenger clearance on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Bangkok, Thailand.
“He told officials that he had recently traveled to Bangkok and picked up the consignment for delivery in Nigeria, where he resides with his parents.
”Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives in Kogi State arrested 33-year-old Ngozi Ogili, who was allegedly transporting three kilograms of methamphetamine from Lagos to Abuja.
”She was intercepted in a commercial bus along the Okene-Lokoja highway on March 31.
”A follow-up operation at her intended delivery point in the Apo Mechanic area of Abuja led to the seizure of additional drugs, including Loud and Colorado—both synthetic cannabis variants,” Babafemi had written.
