The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched an investigation into alleged misconduct by players and officials during two heated quarterfinal matches at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.

In a statement released on Monday, CAF condemned the incidents involving the Cameroon vs. Morocco and Algeria vs. Nigeria fixtures.

The governing body cited “recent match reports and video evidence indicating potentially unacceptable behaviour from some players and officials.”

CAF has referred the matters to its Disciplinary Board, vowing “appropriate action to be taken if the identified persons were to be found guilty of any wrongdoing.”

The statement also flagged a separate issue in the mixed zone, where CAF is “reviewing footage of an incident involving members of the media who allegedly misbehaved.”

CAF emphasised zero tolerance for such conduct, declaring, “CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers.

“Appropriate actions will be sought against anyone whose behaviour is not consistent with professional conduct at CAF events.”
