CAF postpones Super Eagles-Libya match

The Confederation of African Football has confirmed the postponement of the AFCON 2025 second-leg match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya’s Mediterranean Knights due to recent incidents in Libya.

The game was earlier scheduled to take place today, Tuesday, in Libya by 8 pm after the first leg took place in Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Friday.

This was disclosed in a statement by CAF’s communications department on Tuesday.

It reads, “The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Qualifier fixture between Libya and Nigeria will not take place as scheduled tonight. The matter will be referred to the competent CAF bodies.”

However, the statement did not specify a date for the second leg encounter, leaving football fans hopeful as they await decisions from CAF regarding the fixture.

Dailyeconomy had on Monday, reported that CAF has launched an investigation into the incident, following allegations of sabotage made by the Libya Football Federation, which has also threatened legal action against Nigeria.
