Cardoso discusses strategic monetary policy with Malawian counterpart

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, welcomed a high-level delegation from the Central Bank of Malawi (CBM) on Friday at the CBN Head Office in Abuja.

The Malawian team was led by Dr. MacDonald Mwale, Governor of the CBM.

The meeting according to a statement obtained from the CBN served as a platform for robust discussions on monetary policy coordination and knowledge sharing between the two central banks.

Both parties explored avenues for joint initiatives aimed at strengthening central banking ties and fostering economic cooperation across the African continent.

“The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, on Friday, June 27, 2025, hosted a delegation from the Central Bank of Malawi (CBM), led by the Governor, Dr. MacDonald Mwale, at the CBN Head Office in Abuja.

“The visit provided an opportunity for strategic dialogue on monetary policy coordination, knowledge exchange, and the exploration of joint initiatives to strengthen central banking ties between both institutions,” CBN said in the statement.
