Cardoso, Finance Minister hold strategic meeting with IMF’s new First Deputy MD

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced on Saturday that the CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, alongside Minister of State for Finance Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, held a crucial meeting with Dan Katz, the newly appointed First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The session took place in Washington during the Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank on Friday, October 17, 2025.

In the statement, the CBN highlighted the significance of the engagement, noting it was part of Nigeria’s strategic efforts at the global financial summit.

The CBN said, “Meeting With The New First Deputy MD of the IMF: As part of the Nigerian delegation’s strategic engagements at the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.”

The statement confirmed that Katz officially began his role on October 6, 2025, marking his first high-profile meeting with Nigerian officials in this capacity.
