Cardoso presents 2024 half-year briefing to Senate

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, has presented the 2024 half-year briefing to the Senate Committee on banking, insurance and other financial institutions.
Cardoso in a statement on the verified X (formally Twitter) handle of CBN on Friday evening, said the CBN focus is on policies that drive sustainable growth in financial markets.
He said, “CBN is dedicated to maintaining economic stability as we continue to see positive trends. Our focus is on policies that drive sustainable growth in financial markets.
“The Bank is committed to the safety and soundness of the banking industry through decisive actions designed to enhance industry resilience. Ensuring the soundness and resilience of our banking industry is a priority. The CBN has taken decisive measures to safeguard financial stability.”
Cardoso in the statement asserted that the CBN has successfully increased transparency and improved overall supply in the foreign exchange market, pointing to the convergence of rates as evidence of the positive effects of the Bank’s reforms in the forex market.
