Cardoso to lead Nigeria’s delegation at World Bank-IMF annual meeting in Washington DC

Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, will head the country’s delegation to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meeting in Washington DC, starting Monday, October 13, 2025, a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga revealed.
Onanuga noted that Cardoso assumes this role as the alternate Governor, stepping in for the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, who is currently “indisposed”.
The Nigerian delegation will also include the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anete.
Key highlights of the Annual Meetings include the Development Committee Plenary session scheduled for October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee meetings on October 17.
Additional events will feature regional briefings, press conferences, and forums focused on international development, the global economy, and financial markets.
