Manchester United’s interim manager, Michael Carrick has hinted at his dream of staying on beyond the current season, calling the job his “ultimate role” in a BBC interview.
“For me, it’s the ultimate role. I’m really enjoying it, I love what I’m doing. I’m fortunate,” Carrick said.
He added, “I don’t decide how long that’s going to be but I love being here and while I’m here, I’ll give everything I can. And I always plan for the long-term future for the benefit of the football club.”
Carrick took the reins at Old Trafford in early 2026 following Ruben Amorim’s departure.
His tenure has sparked renewed hope among fans, with United securing four wins and one draw in their last five matches—a run that’s intensified calls for him to land the job permanently.
The former United midfielder, who knows the club inside out from his playing days and coaching stints, emphasised his commitment despite uncertainties over his future.
