Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has offered a balanced take on Harry Maguire’s expiring contract, set to run out in June 2026, as renewal talks heat up.
In recent comments, Carrick highlighted the need for squad harmony, “Within the squad we always want that balance, that younger potential, excitement with development players, and experience is important.”
He singled out the 32-year-old defender, whose future at Old Trafford remains uncertain despite reports of ongoing discussions where Maguire is open to a pay cut to stay.
Carrick lauded Maguire’s resilience and achievements, saying, “Harry is an impressive character. He’s had a great career so far, hopefully there is a lot more to come.”
