CBN denies investigating extortion allegation in Ecobank

The Central Bank of Nigeria has denied involvement in investigating extortion allegations related to Ecobank.
A report circulated on Tuesday claiming that the CBN is probing Ecobank over abusive proceedings and communications against Wilben Trade and its CEO, Marcus Wade.
Reacting to the claim on Wednesday, the apex bank via it X (formally Twitter) stated that the claim was false and intended to mislead the public.
“This information is misleading and not affiliated with the Central Bank of Nigeria. Please be guided,” the post reads.
