The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, have visited the Headquarters Theatre Command of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) in Maiduguri on Wednesday, just 24 hours after suicide bombings in the city.

Addressing troops at Maimalari Cantonment, General Oluyede commended their efforts, stating, “the troops for their resilience, sacrifice, and sustained operational pressure against terrorist elements across the theatre.”

He directed commanders to “intensify offensive operations against terrorist elements, strengthen intelligence architecture, and adopt innovative and proactive strategies to dominate the battlespace,” while assuring continued support from Defence Headquarters.

The COAS echoed the praise, highlighting troops’ “unwavering dedication, doggedness, and consistent pressure on the adversary.”

He urged a “never again” posture to block terrorist strikes, especially during Ramadan, and promised “additional support and critical enablers to enhance operational effectiveness and strengthen force protection.”

The Theatre Commander briefed the leaders on recent operations, revealing that “over 200 terrorist elements were neutralised” with others severely injured, despite isolated setbacks.

He affirmed troops’ resolve to “sustain intensified offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and restoring enduring peace and economic stability across the North East region.”image0.jpeg
