The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), on Wednesday, brought together, elders of the institute to celebrate them for their contributions to the development of the profession, and growth of the insurance industry.
The institute celebrated the industry elders at its colorful 2025 CIIN Elders’ Forum in Lagos, which was well attended by insurance elders and past leaders of the institute.
Speaking at the event, the President/Chairman of Council, CIIN, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, acknowledged the significant contributions of past leaders, legacy of those who paved the way for the current generation, honored departed colleagues, and looked forward to a future of renewed commitment to professional excellence.
With optimism for 2025, she called for a reawakening of the core values of professionalism, integrity, and service to humanity that have sustained the institute and the insurance profession as a whole.
In urging elders to be active mentors to younger generations, she highlighted the unique responsibility elders carry in shaping the future of the profession and fostering intergenerational bonds.
She said, “This year, 2025, is a year of renewal. A year in which we are called to reawaken the values that have sustained us and to redefine what it means to be leaders, mentors, and stewards of the profession. As elders, we hold a unique position—one that allows us to guide and nurture the younger generations who look to us for wisdom and direction. Our responsibility is both profound and sacred, and it is one we must carry with the utmost sincerity and dedication.
“In the spirit of this new year, I urge each of us to approach the challenges ahead with renewed energy and optimism. Let us remember that every new year is an opportunity—a time to set new goals, to reflect on the lessons learned, and to embrace the changes that shape our world. As we move forward, let us commit to strengthening the bonds of our profession, deepening our commitment to ethical practices, and enhancing the value we bring to the communities we serve.
“I encourage each of you to actively bond today, sharing your insights and experiences. Your voices are essential in shaping policies and initiatives that reflect the values and aspirations of our community. Together, we can build bridges of understanding, foster intergenerational connections, and create a society that values and cherishes the wisdom of its elders.”
In her address, Ilori emphasized the importance of reflecting on the lives and contributions of colleagues who have passed on, urging all to embrace the everlasting insurance cover that transcends earthly limits.
She urged the gathering to consider the preciousness of life and the opportunity to accept this “free insurance cover” that guarantees everlasting joy.
