Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has directed troops to maintain “relentless, proactive, and intelligence-driven operations” against terrorists and criminals, while reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to personnel welfare.
In a statement Friday by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the COAS emphasised that “operational effectiveness and troop welfare remain critical to the Nigerian Army’s success in combating insecurity.”
He issued the directive during an address to troops at Headquarters Nigerian Army Armour Corps and 33 Artillery Brigade, Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi.
Shaibu charged personnel to sustain high readiness and “intensify efforts to decisively engage and neutralise terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements,” noting their activities have displaced innocent citizens.
He reiterated the Army’s resolve to restore peace and assured provision of “necessary operational enablers and logistics” for ongoing missions, stressing professionalism and sustained pressure to deny criminals freedom of action.
The COAS also pledged unwavering support for troops’ welfare, stating a “motivated and well-supported force is essential for operational success,” with measures to boost morale and combat effectiveness.
