The Kwara State Ministry of Finance has reiterated the urgent need for all pensioners and employees at both State and Local Government levels to complete their registration with the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA), warning that failure to do so could disrupt timely payment of pensions and salaries.
Recent figures show that while all duly registered State pensioners have been paid up to April 2025, only about 56% of Local Government pensioners have completed the process and received their payments, highlighting a significant gap that authorities are keen to close.
Speaking in a statement exclusively shared with Dailyeconomy on Saturday, the Commissioner for Finance, Dr Hauwa Nuru, emphasised the critical nature of the exercise, stating, “The KWSRRA registration is not merely a bureaucratic process; it is a fundamental requirement to verify and validate the identities of our pensioners and employees. This exercise ensures the integrity of our payroll system, facilitates accurate planning, and upholds our commitment to transparency and accountability”.
Pensioners and employees who have not yet registered were urged to do so at the KWSRRA office in Ilorin or at their respective Local Government headquarters, where dedicated KWSRRA desks have been established for assistance.
However, the statement reassured the public of the government’s commitment to retirees and workers’ welfare.
“Pensioners and employees are encouraged to complete their registration at the KWSRRA office in Ilorin or at the headquarters of their respective Local Government Areas, where KWSRRA desks have been established to assist with the process.
“The Kwara State Government remains steadfast in its dedication to the welfare of its retirees and workforce. Ensuring that all eligible individuals are registered with KWSRRA is essential to continue the seamless disbursement of pensions and salaries,” the statement reads partly.
