A container truck caught fire on Sunday evening near the Ogere axis on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, sending thick black smoke into the air and causing panic among motorists, Dailyeconomy witnessed.

The truck, marked with faded “P&G” logos and believed to be carrying hygiene products, veered off the road before bursting into flames that rapidly engulfed its 40-foot trailer.

Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as the fire consumed wooden pallets and metal frameworks, with blue plastic containers scattered along the roadside.

This incident adds to safety concerns on the busy expressway, which recently witnessed a devastating petrol tanker explosion in June, resulting in injuries and severe traffic gridlock.
