The Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) assets rose to N29. 43tn at the end of February, 2026, according to data obtained by Daily Economy from the National Pension Commission (PenCom).

PenCom’s unaudited report on the pension fund industry portfolio, covering the period ended 28 February 2026—including Approved Existing Schemes, Closed Pension Fund Administrators, RSA funds, unremitted contributions at the Central Bank of Nigeria, and legacy funds—showed that total assets rose from N27.45 trillion in December 2025 to N29.43tn in February this year.

The majority of the funds, totaling N16.92 trillion, were invested in Federal Government securities. The remaining assets were allocated across corporate debt securities, money market instruments, mutual funds, as well as domestic and foreign ordinary shares.

This robust growth underscores the resilience and expanding value of Nigeria’s contributory pension industry, reflecting increasing contributions and strategic investment management across the sector.
