Cult Day: Police caution against 7/7 day

The Anambra State Police Command has warned against the proposed 7/7 cult day celebration scheduled to take place in Awka, Anambra State, on Sunday.

In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, noted that such events or any other related activities remains unlawful and the public should take note.

He also emphasised that anyone apprehended in connection with this would face severe consequences.

The statement read, “To this end, the Command cautions hoteliers, bar proprietors, and managers of event/recreation centres to be vigilant regarding such gatherings in their premises, as there will be repercussions for non-compliance.

“Parents and guardians are also urged to advise their children to uphold the law and refrain from actions that could disturb the peace in the state.

“This event is notorious for its violence and bloodshed. The police command advises these individuals or groups to immediately desist, as we are constitutionally mandated to safeguard lives and property and will not permit such elements to undermine the progress achieved in combating cult-related incidents. Offenders will be dealt with decisively.”

“The police and other security agencies remain steadfast, committed and dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of the state at all times.”
