The TinCan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has wrapped up a successful week-long in-house training for senior officers, aimed at boosting professionalism, operational skills, and leadership across the Command.
This was contained in a statement on Thursday by NCS.
Comptroller Frank Onyeka, the Customs Area Controller, underscored the significance of ongoing professional development during the programme’s opening, saying, “This training is not just a routine exercise but an investment in the growth of our personnel. I encourage every officer to apply the knowledge gained here to their duties and remain committed to excellence in service delivery.”
Held from October 13 to 17, 2025, the training brought together officers from multiple departments to deepen expertise in key customs functions.
Topics included Physical Examination, Risk Management, Documentary Checks, Customs Valuation, and Code of Conduct, among others, all led by experienced internal resource persons.
Comptroller Onyeka also revealed plans to extend similar capacity-building programmes to junior officers, ensuring all ranks benefit from the continuous focus on productivity and professionalism.
He concluded with a strong reaffirmation of the Command’s mission, “The Command remains committed to developing a well-rounded, skilled, and proactive workforce capable of meeting the evolving challenges of modern customs operations.”
Participants praised the training as impactful, commending the leadership for prioritizing personnel development and operational excellence.
