The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended two men, Abubakar Ibrahim and Isah Ayuba, over the abduction and killing of one Felicia Namkywa, a petty trader.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Sunday, stated that the arrest was carried out by police detectives attached to the Obi Division following a complaint at the station Headquarters indicating that the trader was missing for days, and all efforts to trace her whereabouts proved abortive.
Nansel said preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was lured via phone call by one of the suspects who owed the trader the sum of N40,000.
He reportedly beckoned her to come and purchase grains in the Ruga area of the town.
He said, “Unknown to her there was a sinister plan to take her life and dispossess her of her business capital.”
Nansel further stated that the suspects upon interrogation confessed to having lured and abducted the victim, and taken her deep into the forest where she was strangled to death.
“The suspects dumped the remains of the lady in a swamp, and took away the sum of N555,000 found on the victim.
“Upon their arrest, the suspects led police operatives to the scene where the decayed remains of the victim were recovered,” Nansel added.
