The Delta State Police Command has announced two significant breakthroughs in its anti-crime drive, including the arrest of suspected armed robbers and the recovery of a vehicle laden with vandalised items.

In the first incident, operatives from Agbor Division nabbed two motorcycle snatchers on March 31 at College Junction.

SP Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer, stated in Thursday’s release, “On 31 March 2026 at about 1945hrs, operatives of Agbor Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer while on anti-crime patrol conducting stop-and-search duty at College Junction, Agbor, intercepted two suspects, namely Julius Godday, male, aged 31 years, and Mzemeke Peter, male, aged 28 years, who were riding on a motorcycle.”

The suspects, identified as members of the Eiye confraternity, tried to flee but were apprehended.

Police recovered “one locally made cut-to-size double-barrelled gun loaded with two live cartridges.”

The police spox added, “A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects… are linked to a series of motorcycle snatching incidents within the area. The suspects have confessed to the crime, and are currently in custody.”

In a related operation on March 30, Sapele Division recovered a Toyota Sienna bus suspected to be stolen and carrying “suspected vandalised items, including iron cuts and a gas cylinder.”

The statement noted, “On sighting the police, the hoodlums abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush. The vehicle was recovered and towed to the station.”

Commissioner of Police CP Yemi John Oyeniyi in the statement commended the teams.

“The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command commended the operatives and urged residents to support the police with credible information, assuring that the Command will sustain its efforts in combating crime across the State.

“The CP further encourages members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station,” the statement reads.
