The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has issued urgent travel safety guidelines to Nigerians, emphasising precautions against potential security threats on highways and rural routes.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the DHQ advised, “Plan journeys during daylight hours. Where possible, use reliable transport, & avoid isolated roads.”
The statement underscores the risks of night travel and solitary routes, particularly in vulnerable areas.
Further guidance includes sharing travel plans with family and opting for group movement, “Inform family of your itinerary & possibly travel in convoys if heading to rural areas.”
This comes amid ongoing concerns over banditry, kidnappings, and ambushes on major roads.
