Senator Dino Melaye has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressing deep dissatisfaction with the party’s capacity to confront the country’s political issues.
In a resignation letter made public, Melaye stated that his decision was driven by the party’s “lack of potency and capacity” to rescue Nigerians from the “prevailing political cankerworms” damaging the nation’s fabric.
Melaye declared, “Having carefully reflected on the state of the party, I can no longer in good conscience participate in the activities of the party or lend my support to her agenda.”
He added that his resignation is effective immediately and extends to all levels of involvement within the party.
He concluded his letter by thanking the PDP for the opportunity to serve during his period of membership but emphasized his need to withdraw completely, signaling a significant political shift that may influence party dynamics moving forward.
